While on a
camping trip in The Great Smokey Mountains, Don and Betty heard a
dulcimer being played in the camp ground. This was the beginning for Don
to start building musical instruments. He has built Mountain Dulcimers,
and Autoharps. Chestnut
Ridge Autoharps and Mountain Dulcimers are built using top quality wood.
Autoharp frames are constructed using piano pin block maple and hard
maple. Autoharp and Mountain Dulcimer tops, backs, and sides are crafted
using quarter sawn walnut, cherry, and sitka spruce.
Special woods, such
as, Koa, Paduk, and Cedar may be ordered for Chestnut Ridge instruments.
